I just thought I'd infuse the board with a comment from my father, a semi-retired school teacher, lifelong NEA Union member, former union negotiator, Catholic, frugal-pragmatist, and "Reagan Democrat."
I don't know for sure, but I think he likely voted:
Carter, Reagan, Reagan, Bush I, Bush I, Dole, Bush II.
Here's what he had to say about the looming Kerry-Bush matchup:
This election year is shaping up as a lesser of two evils vote at the Presidential level.
The Bush budget makes a good case for divided gov't at the fed level, but when both parties espouse tax reduction, increased expenditures, pork as usual, and head in the sand approaches to medical care and social security, the long term outlook isn't rosy.
Maybe we'll muddle through, but I am not wholly optimistic about the country's long term economic outlook.
I'll take no offense to any comments on my dad's politics -- I've taken my fair share of shots at him over the years.
My overall impression is that this is "slightly" good for our democratic nominee.
